Lizard Pathways

Lizard Pathways has provided over 1000 jobless individuals across Cornwall with quality information, advice and guidance on returning to work as well as practical support with the costs of transport, childcare, clothing, equipment and assistance with bridging the gap between benefits and first wage.

Lizard Pathways: Entry to Employment

Established in 2001 Lizard Pathways has a proven track record in successfully delivering Jobcentre Plus, Learning Skills Council and European Social funded projects.

Lizard Pathways has provided over 1000 jobless individuals across Cornwall with quality Information, Advice and Guidance on returning to work as well as practical support with the costs of transport, childcare, clothing, equipment and assistance with bridging the gap between benefits and first wage. 55% of those supported entered sustainable employment.

The project aims to support those ‘hard to reach’ and beneficiaries are from a diverse range of backgrounds including people with disabilities or health problems, lone parents, homeless/NFA, people with drug/alcohol problems, young people and ex-offenders. 70% of the beneficiaries engaged by Lizard Pathways are on long term health related benefits, lone parents, NEET or ‘hidden jobless’ non benefit recipients.

Currently Lizard Pathways is delivering a number of ESF Convergence, Department of Work and Pensions and Learning Skills funded projects.

Cornwall Works Plus

In partnership with the Department of Work and Pensions and Working Links Lizard Pathways will be delivering Cornwall Works Plus in the following areas:

South Kerrier (including the towns and villages of Breage, Germoe, Crowan, Sithney, Porthleven, Stithians, Mabe and Budock, Constantine, Gweek, Helston, Mullion, Cury, St Martin, Mawgan, St Keverne, Ruan Minor and Lizard.

East Penwith (including the area surrounding St Ives, Hayle and all the towns and villages right through to Marazion).

Lizard Pathways will be providing:

  • Employment support for jobless beneficiaries 16 – 65 years old
  • 1-2-1 Information, Advice and Guidance
  • Individually tailored support and mentoring
  • Practical assistance with barriers to employment
  • Post employment support

Work Related Programmes

In partnership with the Learning Skills Council and the Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly Learning Partnership, Lizard Pathways will be delivering Work Related Programmes throughout West Cornwall.

Beneficiaries who are 19+ years of age will have the opportunity to prepare for employment through structured courses providing:

  • Team and Confidence Building
  • Motivation
  • Outdoor Activities
  • ASDAN Employability Award Qualification
  • Certificated Work Focussed Training
  • Certificated Workshops on CV building, Job Search, Interview Skills and Career Planning

Response to Redundancy

In partnership with the Learning Skills Council and Cornwall College, Lizard Pathways will be delivering the Response to Redundancy contract throughout South Kerrier and East Penwith.

Beneficiaries who are 18+ years of age; under notice of redundancy, recently made redundant or unemployed but job ready will have the opportunity to engage in a flexible programme of re-training and skill development.
