Delivering the economic vision for Cornwall

AeroSpace Cornwall

The programme is led by Cornwall Development Company and the activities will be delivered in partnership with the West of England Aerospace Forum (WEAF), who act as CDC’s Delivery Partner.

AeroSpace Cornwall

AeroSpace Cornwall has partnered with the West of England Aerospace Forum (WEAF) to deliver a programme which will increase the value of supply chain clusters in the space and aerospace sectors in Cornwall.

Between us we support businesses to create highly skilled jobs and launch new products into the marketplace. As a result, we will increase capability in Aerospace, Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and Space including upstream and downstream technologies. This support is available to, (but is not exclusive to), advanced engineering, data analysis and software companies.

The programme forges links between key research, development and innovation institutions and businesses. It represents a partnership between the public sector and private sector, with direct links to Further and Higher Education.

To support the economy in Cornwall and encourage innovation, our aim is to promote investment in Research and Development (R&D) and attract inward investment into the space and aerospace sectors. Activities that are being delivered to achieve this aim include:

Up to 20 days of fully funded supply chain competitiveness support.

A team of R&D Technology Managers offering mentoring and support for collaborative RD&I projects with 25% - 80% funding and fully funded innovation vouchers (£5,000). This includes match funding – with capital purchases and salaries. Typical projects will receive a maximum of £150,000.

The local high-value clusters which currently support the aerospace and space sectors have huge potential to develop further. The partnership between Spaceport Cornwall and Virgin Orbit is one example, but with further skilled jobs coming to the area then new technologies and products can literally be launched into this marketplace.
