Delivering the economic vision for Cornwall

Support for Rural Business

The Cornwall Development Company offers support to agricultural, horticultural, food and land based industries of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.  CDC also hosts the Cornwall Agri-Food Council, offering support through a range of measures for the County's food and farming businesses.

The Cornwall Agri-Food Council

The Cornwall Agri-food Council Development Team (CACDT) began in June 2000 as an Objective One funded project and its role was to facilitate applications from the agricultural, horticultural, food and land based industries of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. The team also acted as the administrative body for the Cornwall Agri-food Council. Objective One came to a close in September 2008, however over the existence of the programme, the team provided initial guidance to over 2,023 rural businesses and provided in depth support to over 120 rural businesses. In addition to this, it assisted projects and secured £33.9 million from the European Agricultural Guidance and Guarantee Fund of the Objective one Programme in the form of projects as diverse as cheese processing and machinery sharing.

Although funding streams have changed CDC continues its work to suppport rural businesses. Now funded through the Rural Development Programme (EAFRD) and Cornwall Council, the team continues to provide strategic and proactive support to the agricultural, horticultural, food and land based industries.
